The following pages will guide you as to the use of reeds in reed bed systems and show a little of the way in which we grow them.

At Reeds from Seeds we take great care at all stages of production. Our aim is to grow the finest, 1st quality plants for you the customer to have the greatest success with when you plant them out.

Our care even extends to being environmentally friendly in the way we despatch orders to you. We package our plants in cardboard boxes with a very thin polythene liner to protect the cardboard. The plants are supplied without pots, this means that they are ready to plant upon receipt with the minimum waste and no plastic pots to dispose of. Even the cardboard box can be mulched if desired and the only item for disposal is the polythene liner (like a bin liner bag).

Solution.....

To

Water

Pollution

Quality plants start with quality seed.

At Reeds from Seeds we collect seed heads using our trained staff. Our seed heads are collected from naturally occurring reed stands, (with permission from the landowner). These are located primarily in the North of Wales, but we have contacts country wide and will go far to collect head panicles to meet customer requirements.

We process seed heads to extract clean seed to sow. Phragmites has a very variable germination rate which can lead to up to 30% of plants grown not achieving salability, and having to return to the nursery to grow on for sale at another time.
